What is your role at Audentio?
I’m a senior developer with Audentio. I focus primarily on JavaScript development, but I am able to do full-stack development whenever a project requires it. I’m also have a guiding role in deciding the overall technical direction Audentio takes for projects.
What’s your favorite part of the job?
I really enjoy the variety in the projects we work on. Every day has new technical challenges to solve which keeps things interesting and keeps me learning as a developer. I also enjoy teaching my team members new skills to help them as developers. An added bonus is that I have gotten to develop several sites for clients that I personally use and regularly see our products being used across the internet.
How long have you worked in this particular field? What drew you to it?
I’ve done small programming jobs for about ten years but have only been a full-time developer for about four years since I graduated college. I’ve always had an interest in technology and started teaching myself programming when I was ten, so I’ve considered working as a developer for quite a while.
What advice would you give someone looking to enter your field?
Only enter the field if you are really committed to it. Many of the languages and tools I use on a daily basis didn’t exist five years ago, so you need to have a personal drive to stay relevant with how quickly things change.
What are your favorite hobbies/interests outside of work?
Outside of work, I enjoy running and spending time with my family. I also play a few computer games and have a few personal programming projects including an annual Christmas light show set to music that I create my own hardware and software for.
