Team Spotlight: Lukas
What is your role at Audentio?
I work as backend developer, responsible for expanding and maintaining our range of XenForo 2 add-ons and client add-on projects. Outside of XenForo, I also help out with anything PHP and backend related.
What does your typical workday look like?
It’s quite a relaxing schedule. As my American co-workers normally stop by at roughly 3pm (I work from Europe) half of my work day is supervised by myself. I normally start with getting up to what everyone else has been doing for the second half of their last day, and going through tickets. After that, I start with some small issues and tickets to get warmed up, before I tackle the bigger tasks. Halfway into the day people start to show up and the real fun begins, working on projects together. As my coworkers are very diligent people, I normally stay available for another few hours after clocking out to help them out with their tasks and open issues whenever I can.
What made you want to be a developer?
I’ve started modding games back when I was around 12-years-old. It’s mostly games and gaming that brought me to where I am today. I’ve studied Informatics: Games Engineering at a German University, but while doing so, I discovered that my heart actually is more with web development than it is with game development. Not to say I don’t like games! I just like web development more.
How long have you worked in the field?
I’ve graduated from University just last year. While studying, I’ve worked as a student in the field for about two years and gathered experience as a hobby about 6-8 years before that. So all in all, I’m above 10 years experience as a programmer, out of which about 3 are actual working experience.
What are your favorite hobbies/interests outside of work?
I’m a crazy geek in my free time. Beside the fact that I usually spend at least another 6 hours per week on programming in my free time, I also alternate between Pen & Paper and Tabletop, watch Animes and various stuff on Netflix, as well as play some games with my friends. My true hobby is and has been text based RPGs however - a hobby that I’ve practised for about as long as I have programmed. No wonder that I put my true heart blood into the fusion of both with my own online RPG platform.
